At the recently held ConTEL conference, the company was present through a number of activities, such as the presentation by Gordana Kovačević MSc, who was an invited speaker, participation in the Technical Program Committee, then through conducting sessions and reading papers as well as by presentation of the company’s solutions. Gordana Kovačević was granted an annual award by the Communications Department of the Croatian section of IEEE for her great contribution to the employment of young specialists in Croatia and for the development of the ICT technology, based on the domestic knowledge, research and innovations.

International Conference ConTEL 2013 – The 12th International Conference on Telecommunications – was held in Zagreb on June 26-28 2013. 
  
This year ConTEL also marked the 20th anniversary, as the 1st ConTEL conference was held still in 1993, and since 1997 it takes place every other year in Zagreb. The only exception was the conference ConTEL 2011, which was held in Graz (Austria). All ConTEL conferences held so far, have gathered more than 2800 participants from all over the world with more than 850 papers published in 11 collections of papers.

 Keynote speech by Gordana Kovačević
 
The conference was organized by the University of Zagreb, The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER), and with the technical sponsorship of the international  association IEEE, through the Croatian section of IEEE and the Croatian branch of IEEE Communications Department and General Chair was Prof. Ignac Lovrek.
 
Under the topic “ICT everywhere”, the conference ConTEL 2013 encompassed new achievements in science and technology, which enable the omnipresent communications and computing that have the key role in today's information society. The program covered 45 papers by 163 authors from 19 countries worldwide. The papers were selected on the basis of the international reviews. Besides the presentations of papers by participants, there we also two invited speakers and one of them was Gordana Kovačević MSc, the president of Ericsson Nikola Tesla. She presented the innovations and researches in ICT from the telecom industry stand point. Another invited speaker was  Prof. Henning Schulzrinne PhD from Columbia University (New York, USA), who is also the Chief Technology Officer of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in USA. He elaborated the transformation of the fixed public network in the 21st century from the technology stand point, and the basic need for communication among people. 
 
Award ceremony During the opening ceremony of Contel 2013, Gordana Kovačević MSc was granted an annual award by the Croatian section of IEEE, for the great contribution to the employment of young specialists in Croatia, as well as for the development of information and communications technology, based on the domestic knowledge, research and innovations. 
 
Besides Prof. Darko Huljenić  PhD, technology and scientific activities manager in Ericsson Nikola Tesla, who participated in the activities of the Technical Program Committee  and conducted the session on Performances and Flexibility of Networks and Services, several other company’s experts also    
took part in a number of activities such papers and presentation of the company’s solutions and participation in the scientific part of the conference.
 
Within the conference, a one-day workshop was organized covering the regulatory challenges in the electronic communications market.
