  Categories: Events Trends Tehnology news

The international conference Telecom, Media & Technology Arena 2014 gathered leading telecommunications experts from South-Eastern Europe in Cavtat. They discussed future challenges in the telecommunications industry through the prism of regulatory bodies and telecommunication companies.

Presentations of the representatives of regulatory bodies from the region were followed by a round table on the future of the TMT industry. New business models and sources of income relating to sectors such as energy, banking, healthcare, and the public sector are evident in the telecom industry, as are also the new business entities such as OTT.

Round table on the future of the TMT industryMilan Živković, Strategy and Business Development Director at Ericsson Nikola Tesla who was one of the panellists, among representatives of companies AT Kearney Slovenia, Huawei CEE & NORDIC Region, Telenor Bank and Telecom Slovenia, emphasised:

“We witness an intense transition in the ICT industry and Ericsson’s vision of the Networked Society is becoming a reality. The application of ICT based on broadband Internet access, cloud solutions and mobility is becoming the main competitive advantage, that is, the main generator of new value in many other industries (finance, transport, energy, healthcare, etc.). The industrial paradigm is also changing in line with that: we witness an enormous increase of data traffic in mobile networks, new business models emerge (data-centric plans, x-play and others), the quality and capacity of the network infrastructure are becoming the most important factor in customer satisfaction and loyalty, the end-user perception of services is being directly linked to the optimization of technological parameters of the network infrastructure (internal/application coverage), etc. All of this presents new challenges for all segments of the ICT industry, and adaptability and the speed of accepting changes is becoming the key factor of success.”

Hrvoje Hadžić, Solution Manager at Ericsson Nikola TeslaAt the round table on the Digital Economy, Hrvoje Hadžić, Solution Manager at Ericsson Nikola Tesla, spoke about the effects of innovation on the ways of doing business:

“The popular belief that only small companies and start-ups can innovate is false.  Good organization and smooth-running of big companies is a significant advantage in the implementation of chosen solutions, which is usually also the most critical stage in the realisation of ideas.”

Mr Hadžić stressed the importance of small businesses and the education system in nurturing the innovation culture at the wider level of society, which ultimately brings benefits to all businesses, including Ericsson. Ericsson Nikola Tesla has tailored its business and innovation activities to the challenges of the 21 st century and today it is a good example in the region of a company with an integrated and continued promotion of innovation, with almost one thousand of employees’ innovation suggestions annually.

Ivan Lupić, Manager Core & IMS at Ericsson Nikola TeslaIvan Lupić, Manager Core & IMS at Ericsson Nikola Tesla also held a well-received and motivating lecture stating that the connected world in which we presently find ourselves is only the beginning. Lupić noted that there were 5 billion connected people in 2010 and there would be over 50 billion of connected devices by 2020. Ericsson’s Networked Society vision was an introduction into the cycle of panels on changes in the media industry due to the evident drastic impact of the digital and mobile revolutions on mass communications.
