Visit of EU Experts for Mental Health

The meeting of the Subcommittee for Mental Health (SCMH) of the European Association of Hospital Managers (EAHM), whose member is the Croatian Association of Healthcare Employers (CAHE), was held in Zagreb and on the island of Rab in early September 2015. The two-day working programme consisted of a day in Zagreb in CAHE premises and in Ericsson Nikola Tesla, whereas the second day was held at the Rab Psychiatric hospital.

 
Local experts from different fields presented the Croatian healthcare system to the members of the EU Subcommittee for Mental Health, as well as the functioning of the judiciary, the Police, the Ombudsman and various prevention programmes and projects including student activism among other.

On the occasion of the renowned experts’ visit to Ericsson Nikola Tesla, the company President Gordana Kovačević, MSc presented the company's business and its important role in the digitalisation of the Croatian healthcare system. Ivan Lupić, MSc, the Director of ICT for Industry & Society unit and Darko Gvozdanović, ICT Solutions for Healthcare Manager presented the company's e-Health project and took the delegates down the company's Technology Road, a unique presentation of the company's achievements that respond to the demands and opportunities created by today's Networked Society.

The EAHM Subcommittee for Mental Health members and country representatives who participated in this meeting came from Belgium, Norway, Germany, Switzerland, France and Ireland. The Subcommittee is not only concerned with the hospital management and economic parameters but also with the opportunities for an increased mental health quality. In their respective countries, the Subcommittee members manage significant mental health resources, both for hospitals and external projects and programmes. The Subcommittee meetings are organized in a different country every time. The aim is to learn about the mental health status and conditions of the Member States in terms of the legislative framework, funding, overall improvement opportunities and opportunities for improvement of standards and conditions in comparison to other branches of medicine.
