Two EU funded projects successfully completed

The official ceremony to mark the successful closure of two projects co-funded from the Operational Programme Regional Competitiveness 2007-2013 through the RC.2.2.08 Call „Capacity Building for Research, Development and Innovation” was held in Ericsson Nikola Tesla's premises today. Both projects worth almost 11 million Kuna in total (HRK 10,936,535) ran for 16 months during which the participants demonstrated that efficient collaboration between the academic research community and industry partners can give rise to creative and multiply applicable results the value of which transcends the national borders. The project beneficiary of the „Integrated hardware-software system for environmental parameters monitoring in micro locations“(abbreviated to IPPSO) is the Institute for Medical Research and Occupational Health and the beneficiary of the project „Information and communication technology for generic and energy-efficient communication solutions with application in e-/m-health“ (abbreviated to ICTGEN) is the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing. Ericsson Nikola Tesla was the industry partner in both projects.

The topical media event saw addresses from the Assistant Minister of Science, Education and Sports, professor Krešo Zadro, PhD, the Assistant Minister of Environmental and Nature Protection for Climate Activities, Sustainable Development and the Protection of Air Quality, Soil and the Sea, Marija Šćulac Domac, MSc, and the Head of the Central Finance and Contracting Agency, Nataša Mikuš Žigman, MSc.

IMROH activities and their importance to the local society were presented by the Head of the Institute, Ana Lucić Vrdoljak, PhD. Professor Mislav Grgić, PhD, the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing gave an overview of the Faculty's activities and its important role in the academic research community. Business challenges and international successes of Ericsson Nikola Tesla were noted in the welcome address by Gordana Kovačević, MSc, the President of Ericsson Nikola Tesla.

The integrated hardware-software system for environmental parameters monitoring in micro locations was briefly presented by the Beneficiary Project Manager, Ivica Prlić, PhD, and Zvonko Brabenec, the Project Manager for the Industry Partner. Professor Maja Matijašević, PhD, the Project Coordinator from the Beneficiary and Darko Huljenić, PhD, Project Coordinator for the Industry Partner spoke of the Information and communication technology for generic and energy-efficient communication solutions with application in e-/m-health.

The projects were presented for the first time by means of brief video materials with an educational component intended for wider audiences. Both videos are available at Ericsson Nikola Tesla's YouTube channel.
