The visit of Swedish minister - The synergy of knowledge and economy

On the first day of her official visit to Zagreb, March 10, Swedish Minister for Upper Secondary School and Adult Education and Training, Aida Hadžialić, together with her associates and the delegation of the Embassy of Sweden in Croatia, headed by the ambassador Lars Schmidt visited Ericsson Nikola Tesla. The successful partnership with Ericsson corporation, that can be traced long back to 1953, today still represents the strongest bridge of business cooperation and friendship between the Kingdom of Sweden and the Republic of Croatia.

The youngest Swedish minister and her team were on the occasion welcomed by Gordana Kovačević, president of Ericsson Nikola Teska together with her closest associates. The Company is a representative example of successful interstate economic cooperation in a strategically important ICT area, and at the same time it is known for a long-term collaboration with scientific and educational institutions, both in Croatia and abroad. For example, the cooperation with Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing has been lasting for more than sixty years and one of the recognized joint projects is Ericsson Nikola Tesla’s Summer Camp. It is a project which has been for 16 years connecting in a top-quality way the economy, education and science, together with knowledge sharing and experience in the commercial practice, recognized on an international scale, contributing to creation of new jobs and overall development of the national economy. With its strong Research and Development Center, employing more than a thousand out of total 2.800 Ericsson Nikola Tesla Group’s employees, the Company is the largest Croatian knowledge exporter. In this way, the Company strengthens its position long-term on a demanding global market, ensuring young experts attractive job opportunities and possibilities for career development, here in Croatia, while at the same time, the benefits of this cooperation, i.e. through realized projects in e-health, are available to all Croatia’s citizens. In some areas, such as e-prescription, we took a leading position on an EU level.

After the tour of the Technology Road, where Ericsson Nikola Tesla’s experts in an attractive way presented the vision of the future Networked Society, and concrete, already realized achievements for the benefit of people and society at large, minister Aida Hadžialić said: “I am impressed with the visit to Ericsson Nikola Tesla, and especially with the contribution of the Company to the development of innovation surroundings and focus on the development of young talents. I am very impressed by a powerful leadership of Gordana Kovačević.”

The significance which the Company assigns to continuous education of the employees, investment in high-quality work with students, in many cases the future employees of the Company, together with numerous awards and recognitions, is probably the best emphasized in the statement by Gordana Kovačević: “I am glad that today we hosted the delegation headed by the minister Hadžialić, whose life journey can be an example and an encouragement to many. Since the minister is focused on education, we paid special attention to the presentation of cooperation with our education community and numerous projects with universities in Croatia and abroad.
