Ericsson Nikola Tesla in EU project to modernize ICT study programs

  Categories: Projects

Ericsson Nikola Tesla participates in the European Union project “BENEFIT - Boosting the telecommunications engineer profile to meet society and industry needs”. The aim of the project is to modernize studies in ICT field in the Western Balkans region.

Despite the fact that telecommunications are an essential part of today’s global economy, universities in the Western Balkans region are experiencing a decline in the number of students who enroll in ICT-related study programs. One of the greatest difficulties that is a contributory factor to this problem is the highly dynamic transformation of the telecommunications industry, due to which study programs often cannot keep up with market developments. This is why the European Union's initiatives strive to modernize ICT studies to make the study programs more attractive to students as well as to make the students better prepared for the labor market.

One of the initiatives is the said project, in which our company participates. The project includes 15 academic and industry partners from Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia. Our role in the project includes, among other things, the development of a framework for student internships and industrial visits, as well as the analysis of competencies required from ICT experts by the modern telecommunications market. Results of the project are intended to further improve and bring up to date study programs at partner universities in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Under the project, the students from partner universities will participate in this year’s Ericsson Nikola Tesla Summer Camp, which is still open for submissions.
