Ericsson Nikola Tesla donates HRK 400 thousand

  Categories: Notices

The year currently approaching its close has been marked by a prolonged fight with the novel corona virus that completely changed our lives and our ways of living. The greatest burden in opposition to this „invisible enemy“ is on those who have been on the first line of defence – our doctors, nurses and other medical and non-medical personnel in the healthcare system who have been putting in extra efforts to treat those infected with the virus. Therefore, we decided to donate HRK 400,000 to the healthcare system and to those in need.

Wishing to thank the healthcare staff, the heroes of these times, and at the same time improve the treatment conditions of severe cases, the management of Ericsson Nikola Tesla decided to donate HRK 100 thousand each to COVID-19 centres in the Clinical Hospital Dubrava and the Clinical Hospital Osijek, as well as to donate infusion pumps worth over HRK 100 thousand to the University Hospital for Infectious Diseases Dr Fran Mihaljevic, as well as ICT equipment worth HRK 40 thousand to healthcare facilities across Croatia.

This year has been difficult for the most vulnerable groups in our society, those individuals and families who need support in order to survive. That is why we have also, as we traditionally do in holiday season, decided to donate HRK 60 thousand to four soup kitchens  in Zagreb, Split, Osijek and Vukovar in which the homeless and those in financial difficulties get help in food and supplies throughout the year.

Gordana Kovačević, MSc, President of Ericsson Nikola Tesla commented: “The year 2020 has been particularly challenging to all of us because we have been dealing with an invisible enemy, that knows no borders, has no working hours and is dangerous, and also frequently lethal to all generations, not only to older members of society. For all of us in the private sector it has been a very demanding and unpredictable year that required lots of knowledge, effort and adjustments. At Ericsson Nikola Tesla we are satisfied at the close of this year because we have managed to realize numerous important business activities and projects in home and foreign markets in spite of difficulties. A contribution to our success came from those who supported us all along – our doctors, nurses, medical technicians and all other non-medical staff who, by working all hours, risking their health and lives, daily help to those infected and save, the most precious, human lives. Thank them for that! To conclude, I would like to emphasize how proud I am that this Christmas donation is only one in a series that Ericsson Nikola Tesla has made during the coronavirus crisis to healthcare facilities and the vulnerable stakeholders in our community. Also, many of our employees have volunteered in a number of relief activities organized during this year.”
