Conference on 5G technology held in Kosovo

Representatives of Ericsson Nikola Tesla participated in the first conference on the future of 5G technology “The future of 5G Technology” held in Kosovo early this October.

The event held in “Kosova Innovation Hub" in Peja was organized by Next Generation Networks Institute, an NGO concerned with research, development and education in telecom field.

It brought together all key stakeholders from the public and private sector interested in the use of 5G technology potential for further growth and development of Kosovo. The representatives of Ericsson Nikola Tesla, Besar Spahija, the director of Ericsson Nikola Tesla Kosovo office and Hrvoje Hadžić, Business Development Manager for the Telecom segment were among attendants who included Kosovo leading telecom operators, regulators and vendors.

The main conference topics – the role of 5G technology and related legislation and infrastructure, security concerns in 5G networks and its applications, as well as role of 5G in Industry 4.0 were covered by three panel discussions. Hrvoje Hadžić participated in the panel entitled “Advancements in Telecom: 5G, Industry 4.0, and the Role of Private Networks” highlighting the great advance of the Republic of Kosovo in comparison to some other countries in the region. Discussing the benefits of deployment of 5G technology and private 5G networks he pointed out that 5G technology represents the foundation for new digital transformation projects in Kosovo and new use cases made possible by latest technology advancements such as 5G Standalone (5G SA). This very dynamic interactive panel was concluded with toughts that 5G represents basis for further development of security and the economy of the Republic of Kosovo.
