Relocating to Krapinska Street

From the location in Palmotićeva street 82, of the total usable area 2,795 sq.m that was inappropriate for a larger scale industry development, the production was relocated to a new premises at Krapinska street. The official opening of the new “Nikola Tesla” factory plants took place on December 12, 1953. In a new, up-to-date furnished and equipped working spaces, the total usable area was 9000 m2, which was approximately 3.5 times more than on the previous location. It was far from the center and people were coming to work using bad roads and partially passing through cornfields.


Administration Building

The plans for the construction of new buildings and for extending the business premises were published in «Nikola Tesla» gazette, No. 12, of 1968. One of the buildings planned at that time, was a part of the current administration building. By constructing new premises, the Institute expansion was enabled, thus making possible further growth and improvement of the enterprise’s development and scientific research.

The first part of the administration building was completed in 1974, ready to mark the 25th anniversary of the enterprise’s founding. By mid-year 1974, the old restaurant was torn down to start the preparations for construction of the other half of the current administration building. The construction ended in 1975.


Electrical Equipment Plant

In the period 1961-1981, the building complex was under construction by adding annexes, when it finally got its current form, as far as the exterior is concerned. However, since then started the redecoration and rearrangement of the interior.


Tool shop

Tool shop premises did not meet the needs of the grown capacity. Therefore, preparations for construction of a new Tool shop and a Maintenance shop premises started in 1972. The construction ended in 1974, and an annex was added in 1984.

Galvanization shop (current parking place along with Krapinska street)
Following the growth in demand for telecommunication equipment provision, the problem of the existing capacities also became obvious. Galvanization, as one of the technological processes in metal items production, was relocated to the new modernly equipped premises during 1973.
Later on, by focusing on the Company’s core business, there was no more need for  the galvanization treatment. Therefore, the equipment was dismantled, the building was torn down and the space is turned into a parking lot.


Green Oasis

The shortage in lack of warehouse area was the reason to build another storage for chemicals and sheet steel in 1994. At the beginning of 2001, the warehouse was dismantled and the space turned into a pleasant green oasis for relaxation and socializing. 


Improving the energy efficiency of the campus

The company has invested considerable resources in a project worth approximately HRK 70 million, which will enable the company to reduce its annual carbon footprint by nearly 1400 tonnes and reduce the energy consumption by more than 4.6 million kWh. The large and very complex project to improve energy efficiency at Ericsson Nikola Tesla is co-financed by the European Union with a maximum grant of HRK 20 million from European Structural and Investment Funds in the framework of the Competitiveness and Cohesion Operational Program 2014-2020.
