We are glad to announce that Ericsson Nikola Tesla signed a contract with JV MDC Velcom, the first GSM mobile operator in the Republic of Belarus. The contract covers the infrastructure expansion and upgrade of the Velcom’s GSM core network and BSS. This will enable operator to serve 3,5 million users. The contract is valued at USD 43,6 million and its realization is expected to be finalized by the end of October 2007.

The network upgrade will hopefully attract new users of Velcom’s services and increase the standards of communication in the Republic of Belarus.
