Last week saw a five-day event Days of FESB at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Split (FESB) in which the Faculty celebrated its 54th anniversary. Numerous activities and events aimed at the interested public and especially at former, present and future Faculty students took place throughout the week. The main ceremony at FESB hosted many guests from the academic, business and the public world from Split, other parts of Croatia and the neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was an excellent occasion to take a look back and to summarize the results achieved in the past year and to award the deserving individuals, organizations and companies.
The biggest non-commercial technological convention in the region, which is traditionally held in Opatija, was officially opened on May 28, with a current panel discussion on topic “Education for the 21st century“, during which, respectable businessmen and meritorious participants from the educational system, shared their thoughts, experiences and suggestions.
The Annual General Meeting of Ericsson Nikola Tesla Joint Stock Company was held on the company premises on Tuesday, 27 May 2014. The equity capital represented at the AGM was HRK 89,379,100 which corresponds to 67.12 % of the total company's equity, thus satisfying the legal conditions for the meeting to proceed and for its decisions to be legally valid. The AGM proceedings were conducted in the presence of a notary public by Snježana Bahtijari, the AGM chairperson appointed by the Supervisory Board.
In recent days the eastern part of Croatia has been affected by flooding on an unprecedented scale. The situation is difficult also in the neighbouring countries of Bosnia & Herzegovina and Serbia. Ericsson Nikola Tesla, being a socially responsible company, immediately contacted the Red Cross and arranged a series of activities in order to help the inhabitants of the heaviest hit areas as quickly as possible and in the most suitable manner.
Case Study Competition, a project of the student association eSTUDENT, is a competition in solving real business cases on a given topic. This year's competition attracted sixteen leading Croatian companies, including Ericsson Nikola Tesla, with the topic „Interaction of people and machines in a networked society – digital inclusion “. Darko Huljenić, PhD, presented the awards to the best teams at the closing ceremony.
Global Telecom Business Award, a prestigious global award for the most innovative projects in the past year was awarded in London to Vipnet and Ericsson Nikola Tesla for the implementation of the Ericsson’s PSI system, an energy-saving solution for base stations. This is one of environmentally friendly solutions that Vipnet has applied to its business, thus significantly reducing its environmental impact.
Ericsson has completed its acquisition of Red Bee Media, a leading media services company headquartered in the UK. Through the acquisition, which was first announced in July 2013, Ericsson has acquired the services of more than 1,500 highly skilled employees based in the UK, Spain, France, Germany and Australia, as well as a number of high-profile customers.
Innovations Institute is a non-profit organization, focused on the development of regional innovation potentials. It has launched a series of lectures, during which the leaders from public life and business highlighted the key role of innovations and added values. The cycle of this year lectures was opened by MSc Gordana Kovačević, Ericsson Nikola Tesla President, by discussing the topic “Creation and Encouragement of Innovations Culture – Ericsson Nikola Tesla as an Example.
